When Steve was contacted by an old girlfriend who said she was wanting to rehome a micro-pig, the soft-hearted animal lover was sorely tempted.
When she rang again and said someone else was interested in the pig, his competitive instinct kicked in: without consulting his partner Derek, he agreed to adopt the pretty porcine.
The only problem was Esther grew… and grew… and grew.
Steve was had. Esther turned out to be a full-sized pig and within three years, weighted a massive 270 kilograms.
The guys kept her as an ‘inside’ pet pig, which led to all sorts of hilarity and tension, including a burst gallon of olive oil smeared around the house and a giant litter box that Esther only occasionally used.
In the tradition of Marley and Me, this story is equal parts heart-warming and laugh-out-loud funny. If nothing else, check out Esther the Wonder Pig on Instagram for a giggle!
